Thanks to Sam for Coming from constantine even though exhausted. Next session is Thursday fortnight. New harp player Ben has promised to come.
next blues night is tonight (Thursday 26th) at First and Last - I put up a post about this a while back but it disappeared. We'll have the mixing desk. Please don't bring amps - if you have a guitar a pod, zoom or pedal that can act as a pre-amp is enough. Cheers
Have bought a powered mixing desk and PA speakers so we can do a manageable electric blues night on 24th. Guitarists will need a pod or zoom type preamp. Next acoustic evening is this Thursday. Cheers!
Next blues night is on for Thurs 12th Jan at First and Last in Penzance. This one will be acoustic. We'll do another electric night later in the month.
Thanks to all who came last night- I enjoyed myself even if you suffered. The next one will be in the New Year and will be acoustic only (apart from Dave the Bass). We'll do another electric one but I need to figure out how to keep the volume down. Thanks to the Cornet player - I didn't get your name so hopefully you'll find us on Facebook. Anyone fancy a trip to the Trengillywartha blues night on 4th Jan? It's also pie and a pint for a tenner night. Blues and Pie ...mmmm

Some news. We are going to start a Blues Jam at the First and Last Inn in Penzance on the first THURSDAY of every month and any other time regulars agree to turn up. We are still looking for a decent singer. We've got a saxophonist, cross harp maestro, 2 guitarists (inc me) ,Dave the Bass and me singing all the wrong notes in the wrong order. next event is 1 december. from 7.30ish.
Apologies to those who turned up last night only to have me gush blood all over the place and leave. I never get nose bleeds - my wife thinks it was instant karma as I was singing "I'm gonna beat my woman till I get satisfied" at the time - damn that Robert Johnson.
Just a reminder - tickets on sale for http://backroom-blues.eventbrite.com/ online and at West Penwith Music and Themusicbox in Adelaide Street Penzance. wednesday 14th from 8pm at the Union Hotel. Tickets are £6
anyone fancy getting together to do a 20 minutes set on Saturday night in Falmouth? looking for warm up acts for our soul band.... I'm sure 20 minutes of last night's efforts was presentable... and am free for more practice before hand if anyone's tempted!
Top night tonight - fingers crossed PGCE is not on Tuesday nights....
Song of the month - See See Rider - the old Ma Rainey classic but check out this version by Chuck Willis - some nice sax parts http://youtu.be/tLzzsei_EyM
Next jam session is 2 August
Next Backroom Blues Session will be 5th July. We are going to move it to the first Tuesday in the month - a) more people can make Tuesdays b) it is easy to remember and publicise!
Next session is 1 June. Aslo check out the website for details of Jon Walsh gig at Union hotel in September. Book early as places are limited. It's only £6!
